A place for every connection.

A network switch gives wired devices a place to connect. It can also connect access points back to the network, with compatible power-over-Ethernet equipment when appropriate.

FOLLOW THE CONNECTION

Now it all
makes sense.

Select a piece of the network. See what it does for your home.

THE CONNECTION TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD

Your internet service starts the journey.

Your provider brings internet service to the home, usually through a modem or fiber terminal. Your home network shares that connection with your devices. Better Wi-Fi equipment cannot make your provider’s plan faster, but it can help address how the connection reaches your rooms.

We look at: the service you already have, where it enters the house, and the devices you want to connect.

Visitors and deliveries.

The G4 Doorbell Pro PoE Kit has a main camera and a separate package camera, plus two-way audio. Camera angle and mounting height help determine what you can see at your own entrance.

PLAN THE CONNECTION

Power and data, together.

This PoE version uses an Ethernet connection for network access and compatible power. The kit includes a PoE chime. We review cable access and the equipment’s power requirements before choosing a setup.

KEEP THE WHOLE SYSTEM IN VIEW

A place for your recordings.

UniFi Protect needs a supported console and suitable storage. We discuss recording capacity, viewing access and notifications as part of the plan—not just the device at the door.

PoE or Wi-Fi—what is the difference at the door?

PoE uses compatible Ethernet equipment to carry power and network data on a cable. A Wi-Fi doorbell connects wirelessly for data and still needs its specified power supply. The right option depends on cable access, signal at the entrance, the doorbell model and chime compatibility. The example above is the PoE kit; Wi-Fi models have different installation requirements.

Do I need to replace my whole home network?

That depends on the existing setup and the equipment you want to add. We start with your current internet service, router, available Ethernet connections and project priorities. A doorbell or camera plan also needs the appropriate recording and power equipment.

What should we plan before installing cameras?

We discuss the areas you want to see, mounting locations, cable routes, night lighting, storage and who should have viewing access. Camera views should respect neighboring spaces and your family’s privacy. Any remote viewing depends on the configured system and internet availability.

Can my patio, office and doorbell be part of one plan?

Yes. A coordinated plan can account for wired devices, indoor Wi-Fi, outdoor access points and compatible cameras. The components may serve different purposes, but considering them together helps plan cable routes, equipment space and room for future additions.
